Using your Ammo Box Speaker
So, you've got your new speaker and are raring to go, here are just a few notes on how to get the best from it.
Turning on your speaker
To turn on your speaker flip the switch on the back of the speaker down so the little LED built into the switch lights up. After a couple of seconds you'll hear a tone from the speakers and you can then connect to it as described below.
The other switch on the back of the speaker is for the cooling fan for the amplifier. Generally speaking you won't need to turn this on unless you're using the speaker for extended times at high volumes or in a hot environment.
Connecting to your speaker
You connect to your speaker using a wireless Bluetooth connection and nearly all phones, tablets and laptops support Bluetooth so shouldn't be a problem. To connect first turn on your ammo box speaker and then open up the Bluetooth settings on your phone, or laptop. Here you can see nearby Bluetooth devices that you can connect to. The Ammo Box Speaker should be listed as "Sanwu Audio" or "HW Electronics" (occasionally it may be something else if our normal amplifier is not available). Tap the device and you should then be connected to your speaker so go ahead and try playing some music. Use the volume control on your phone to adjust the volume - there is no volume control on the speaker itself. Note if your phone supports it, it may be worth changing the "Device Type" to "Speaker" to improve the sound quality (click here for steps on how to do this on Apple Devices)
Charging the speaker
The speaker should arrive pretty much fully charged and ready to go. The voltmeter on the back of the speaker shows the level of charge in the battery; about 12.7 volts is fully charged, 11 is probably getting a bit low and will likely stop working soon. (When charging the display will go above 12.7 volts, this is normal).
The mains charger can be used while using the speaker and will charge the battery as you use it. When the charger is plugged into the speaker the lower LED will light up indicating the charger is plugged in. Note that this LED stays lit all the time to act as a reminder that the charger is plugged in.
To determine if the battery is charged refer to the LED on the plug itself - this will be red whilst charging and green when fully charged. If you are using the speaker whilst it's charging it may just change to a green / orange colour when it is full.
.
As per many electronic devices we don't recommend leaving the speaker plugged in for very long periods or over night.
Using the speaker outdoors
Your speaker is fine to use outdoors and will be tolerant of a short rain shower but using in heavy rain or for long periods in the rain is not recommended. The connections and switches are not intended to be waterproof and could fail if made excessively wet.
Troubleshooting
My speaker has gone really quiet and won't go any louder?
On iPhone's there is a bug where the volume occasionally gets "locked" at a low level and won't go any higher. Luckily the fix is quite simple and all you need to do is "forget" the device in your Bluetooth settings and re-pair with it. Simple!
I can't re-connect to my device?
The usual solution to this problem is to turn the speaker off, turn Bluetooth off on your device, then turn it back on and then turn on the speaker. This "reset" usually does the trick.
